Lead Researcher, Technology Development
The Patient Care and Safety Products global business unit is committed to new products, programs and technologies focused on infection prevention, improved patient outcomes, and safer, more efficient healthcare practices throughout the global continuum of care. It includes products in Clinical Care, SharpSafety and Vascular Therapy. Patient Care and Safety Products will continue to utilize its well known brands (e.g., KENDALL, CURITY, T.E.D., SCD, MONOJECT, KANGAROO, and DOVER) with customers in healthcare settings. Patient Care and Safety will provide a significant opportunity for growth worldwide.Under the direction of the Manager of Technology Development, this individual will successfully organize and execute late research and early development in the field of Advanced Wound Care (AWC) within the Patient Care & Safety Products (PC & SP) global business unit. This individual must be capable of collaborating effectively with Global Marketing and Portfolio Management to participate in establishing priorities in the AWC focus area while also leading cross functional teams and managing outside collaborations towards innovative solutions with the goal of developing technology that can be leveraged to enable innovative product concepts.Essential duties and responsibilities will include the following:- Remain current in the field of advanced wound care market, research and regulatory trends- Collaborate with global and regional marketing and portfolio management to manage priorities in the advanced wound care strategic focus area utilizing technology strategy and planning methodologies- Establishment of product technology performance goals and demonstration of ability to meet those goals which leads towards preliminary documentation that logically dovetails into existing product development pathway for advanced wound care- Establish working project teams focused on early research and development in advanced wound care- Identify and establish outside contacts for sponsored research and/or technical advisory boards for advanced wound care- Creation of new invention disclosures in the field of advanced wound care- Creation of peer reviewed publications in the field of advanced wound careSKILLS AND ABILITIES:- Strong planning, organizational, and leadership skills - Demonstrated ability to assess and develop new technology and conduct advanced research. - Ability to work independently (self-directed)- Excellent interpersonal and influence management skills including evidence of managing multi-discipline teams- Ability to effectively handle conflict through proactive action, and direct and timely communication- Attention to detail and experience to check behind the scenes to ensure surprises are minimized- Sets the standard for timeliness, work ethic, and personal integrity- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skillsRequirements: - BS in engineering or scientific discipline or equivalent (MS and/or Ph.D. a plus)- 6-10 years of experience in research & development - Demonstrated experience in developing new technology and/or conducting internal/external advanced research - Well developed understanding of wound management- Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience on new technology development and/or assessmentTo apply online, please use the following link: Apply To Covidien Click here to see all “Covidien” opportunities Visit our web site to learn more about Covidien EMAIL THIS JOB TO A FRIENDCOVIDIEN, COVIDIEN with Logo and "positive results for life" are trademarks of Covidien AG. ©2007 Covidien AG or its affiliate.
