Instructional Designer
Heidelberg Engineering is a high tech, biomedical company which develops and markets laser scanning instruments for eye diagnostics. Our instruments are used by leading researchers and clinicians around the world in the continuing effort to prevent blindness.
Our products are an elegant blend of laser physics, software analysis and biology, which require communication to a wide range of audiences, including concerned patients, busy technicians and doctors.
We are looking for a talented visual arts professional who can apply the principles of communication and education through modern electronic media to produce programs for people who appreciate vision the most.
ROLE DESCRIPTION
The Instructional Designer will work with Heidelberg Engineering’s education, marketing and Subject Matter Experts (SME) to produce dynamic learning solutions.
The Instructional Designer conducts analysis techniques (needs, task, learner, and gap), application of learning theory, instructional design process, and evaluation methods for the design and development of performance-based e-learning, workshop, and Instructor-led training solutions. The ID also manages client and content development team relationships at the design stages and creates and assembles all project documentation relating to product design standards, and oversees the implementation of the design plan.
Deliverables may include the following: self-paced training; instructor-led workshops (leaders and participants guides); and web-based training such as simulations for system application training. The selected individual must determine instructional media appropriate to learning strategies and audience; perform needs analysis, audience analysis, task analysis and develop effective training and evaluations.

EXPERIENCEBA/BS degree in instructional design Minimum 2 years of instructional design experience Experience with designing blended learning solutions, with equal expertise in designing workshops, Instructor Lead materials, job aids, and e-learning programs General understanding of the skills sets required to create blended learning products including multimedia authoring, multimedia artistry, programming, media creation and quality assurance and of multimedia delivery platforms (e.g., CD-ROM, DVD, web, hybrids) Familiar with electronic story boarding packages and project management tools. Experience using development software such as Dreamweaver, Camtasia and Flash is desirable. General understanding of Microsoft Windows user interface standards, as well as browser-related standards and an ongoing desire to learn and master new techniques and technologies related to multimedia Excellent writing skills Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Willingness to travel Excellent client-facing skills and confidence to advise clients on instructional design
