More information can be found at www.covidien.com The Market Research Analyst is responsible for primary and secondary marketing research for product development, market and competitive analysis, assisting in the creation of business plans and market assessments, market share analyses, planning and budgeting for market research projects. Additionally, the Market Research Analyst will support other research and information needs of the Global Marketing Department as needed.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:• Conducts global marketing research to identify market needs through primary methods such as surveys, in-depth interviews and focus groups, and through secondary research.• Facilitates and participates in the Concept Engineering Process for new product development.• Writes marketing research reports.• Teaches interviewing skills to teams responsible for Concept Engineering.• Presents marketing research recommendations to functional groups within the Global Business Unit.• Gathers all pertinent data, statistics, and market information to determine market penetration and potential, competitive strategies, consumer attitudes and preferences, and product life cycle strategies on a global basis.• Designs actionable marketing research.• Performs market share analyses using internal and external data sources to predict relative corporate market positions for various product lines.• Coordinates relationships with market research consultants.OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:• Performs other related duties and assignments, as required.PRINCIPAL WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: • Works closely with Marketing and Product Managers, Business Development and Leadership Team.JOB QUALIFICATIONS: KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY:• Advanced report writing and delivering presentations to executives.• Overall knowledge of the EbD product lines or the surgical device market.• Working knowledge of personal computer software such as Microsoft Office suite of software is required.• Database administration knowledge strongly preferred.• Working knowledge of and experience in internet and database searches utilizing DIALOG, etc.• Knowledge and experience in statistical methods, including use of SPSS software.• Qualitative interviewing and facilitation experience, including focus group moderating, is necessary.• Quantitative research including advanced techniques such as segmentation, conjoint, and discriminant analysis.• Interpersonal skills.• Active listening.Requirements: EDUCATION:• Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Statistics, or Social Sciences required.• MBA or related graduate degree strongly preferred.EXPERIENCE:• Four (4) years’ experience in marketing research required, including two (2) years surgical device marketing research experience.DISCLAIMER:The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this classification.
