More information can be found at www.covidien.com The Manager, Global Marketing is responsible for the development and implementation of the overall global strategy for the assigned product area. This would include the coordination and creation of objectives and strategies for the product area, product plans, product line development, new product development, new product acquisition, education, pricing and profit goals, forecasting, and the management of assigned personnel. The primary responsibility of the Marketing Manager, Global Marketing is to achieve the sales growth and income objectives for the assigned product areas, to establish and maintain relationships with customers and key customers, and to strive to make Covidien’s Energy-based Devices the preferred provider of surgical equipment in that product area.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:•Supervisory duties and responsibilities include: a) writes and conducts annual performance appraisals and ensures regular feedback, coaching, and communication with group; b) provides development opportunities for staff to broaden and enhance skills and abilities c) administers company policies and procedures in the Marketing Department; d) ensures compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices, good housekeeping, and safety policies; e) responsible for initial training of new employees and on-going training of direct reports to ensure quality of work, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP and ISO), and other regulatory compliance; and f) emphasizes an environment to foster teamwork.•Determines the strategic direction and marketing objectives for the assigned product areas, including the product line content, pricing and profit goals, and sustaining new product development or new product acquisition to achieve company sales growth and income objectives.•Gathers and evaluates all pertinent data, statistics, and market research information to determine the market potential and penetration, competitive strategies, consumer attitudes and preferences, and product life cycle strategies to meet the marketing objectives.•Evaluates new product and market opportunities within global markets. Directs and develops total market assessment and market feasibility assessment. Formulates a business plan for the new product/market opportunity for upper management presentation and approval. •Budgets, formulates, and calculates the global product line forecast for the assigned product areas, and maintains an ongoing assessment of sales forecasted to actual sales both in units and dollars.•Formulates and provides the budget of sales by dollars and units for the assigned product area for the current year updates as well as next year sales plan.•Coordinates all the product plans and programs as to the role they play in the overall global marketing plan.•Oversees the development and preparation of the promotional activities which support the global marketing plan objectives and strategies for the product area. With the assistance of Marketing Communications, implements the advertising programs, product brochures, promotional activities, and monitors the effectiveness of the above-mentioned in achieving the overall marketing objectives.•Travels and interacts with customers in offices, surgery centers, and hospital situations including operating rooms, to determine current and future product needs.•Identifies and ensures the coordination and execution of conventions, seminars, and workshops for assigned product line(s).•Develops and maintains ongoing relationships with key customers.•Leads and participates in cross functional teams •Relates with company personnel, sales representatives, and customers effectively on a global basis for customer complaints, product input, market input, forecasts, and those areas where the specific individuals are responsible.•Provides training on surgical products to customers, employees, and network purchasers.•Provides effective communication with direct reports.OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:•Performs other duties and responsibilities, as required.Requirements: JOB QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY):•Proven knowledge, skill, and ability to create, write, and analyze business, marketing, product plans, objectives, and strategies for the clinical specialty.•Knowledge of the “due diligence” process.•Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with key customers.•Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of full product line and clinical uses of products.•Demonstrated knowledge and ability to use a personal computer, specify information needs, and utilize a variety of software applications.•Ability to integrate technology and corporate acquisitions into an existing structure.•Ability to review detailed sales reports and computer printouts.•Demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver product presentations and train employees and customers in applications and use of products.•Strong analytical skills to complete financial/profitability analysis and project sales forecasts.•Proven ability to work effectively as a team leader/member must be a strength, including demonstrated prioritization and organizational skills.•Ability to coach, mentor, and train assigned personnel.•Position requires 40% travel time, to include both domestic and international travel.EDUCATION:•Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Marketing or related degree essential, MBA desired.EXPERIENCE:•Five (5) years of product management and supervisory experience, including previous sales and marketing experience in the medical industry.DISCLAIMER:The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this classification.
