Director of Manufacturing - Medical Devices

Medical device company in Northern Suburbs is seeking a Director of Manufacturing for their Waukegan mfg facility, due to recent FDA approval.  Will manage the Manufacturing Supervisor and Manufacturing Engineers and report to the VP of Operations.  Will monitor daily performance in quality, cost, delivery, safety and morale.  Will implement and enforce continuous improvements to increase productivity and reduce material usage while maintaining the highest level of product quality.  Frequent communication with R&D, Engineering, Quality, Finance, Regulatory and Sales to ensure smooth operations and project planning.  Provide leadership for employee relations through effective communication, coaching, training and development - a hands on leader.  Determine headcount needs.  Research, cost-justify and implement manufacturing software and new equipment.  Oversee maintenance of facility and all shop equipment, ensuring it is in safe operating condition.  Enforce full and continuous compliance with all environmental, health and safety requirements.  Must spend significant time daily on shop floor in communication with shop workers. 

Requires 10+ years of manufacturing management experience, with 4-year degree in either Production Management, Business, or Engineering related field.  Must possess knowledge of continuous improvement processes and engineering concepts.  Demonstrated history of implementing cost savings initiatives.  Ability to use and analyze information in order to establish priorities.  Knowledge and understanding of documentation, procurement, inventory and quality control processes.  Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results.  Ability to think and plan over a 3-6 month time span.  Quality orientation and creative thinker.
