Division: Global Headquarters (Corporate) Location: St. Paul/Little Canada, MN 55117 Status: Full Time, Employee Job Category: Marketing/Product Education Level: Bachelor's Degree Career Level:Manager (Manager/Supervisor of Staff) Company:St. Jude Medical Director, Global Events The Director, Global Events has primary management responsibility for driving the St. Jude Medical brand via the strategic planning and execution of healthcare professional association/society meetings, congresses and conventions worldwide.  In addition to recommending, implementing and enforcing policies and procedures for event planning and execution, the Director will resolve a broad range of issues in a timely manner and continuously measure and assess performance against goals in the pursuit of continuous improvement. The Director is responsible for providing quality services that meet internal and external customer requirements.   Essential Functions: Ensures that all convention and congress functions provide an appropriate, consistent representation of the brand, from look and feel of exhibits to integration and tone of promotional materials. Assesses and maintains current global event calendar and association sponsorship and makes recommendations regarding future presence in support of local sales and marketing initiatives and priorities regarding sponsorship levels and types. Develops an event planning process that begins with local marketing and sales initiatives to set goals and objectives, and leverages product division marketing and communications teams, sales divisions Training and Education groups, and external agencies, as required, to develop and execute key company messages and themes. Drives the development, maintenance and evolution of band-compliant booth properties and portable displays, including graphics, interactive media features, and leading-edge technologies designed to promote booth traffic. Develops and implements Booth Ambassador training programs for each geography to promote effective interaction with customers and prospects at each event. Selects exhibit and meeting function sites and oversees event plan to ensure that an appropriate, consistent and compelling company image is projected. Provides post-event evaluations and reports. Develops and implements processes and procedures to support brand compliance at every level of exhibition (local, regional and national). Manages support material and other convention activities, including concurrent meetings, symposia and social functions. Manages and coordinates vendors for exhibits, meeting planning and customer event services. Works with vendors to establish consistent levels of global support while realizing economies of scale. Serves as a corporate representative to all professional exhibitor association and committees to promote and enhance St. Jude Medicals’ perception as an industry partner. Keeps abreast of rules and regulations that affect healthcare convention/congress marketing (e.g., ACCME and AdvaMed) and promotes compliance across planning efforts. Prepares budgets and time lines for major conventions and meetings. Monitors expenses and prepares reports to assess effectiveness of events.  Qualifications:  Required:   A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing or equivalent 10+ years of progressively more responsible work experience as a meeting and conventions planner.  4+ years of demonstrated experience at a supervisory/managerial level is typical.  Sound judgment acquired through organizational experience and a demonstrated record of achievements in successful meeting and convention planning. A thorough understanding of product and market management, as well as physician and patient marketing is also required. Must be able to prioritize event projects using customer input. Solid verbal and written communication, interpersonal and presentation skills essential, as is the ability to lead a cross-functional team (with or without direct line responsibility). Demonstrated working knowledge of frequently used personal computer programs and applications, such as, Microsoft Office.  Must be adept at handling multiple assignments and accomplish these projects within budgetary guidelines. Ability to travel a significant amount of travel (35%-50%). Desired: An advanced credential, such as an MBA in a relevant discipline/concentration.
