Data Architect This is a director level position As a consultant/authority for the IT organization, architects, analyzes and maintains relational databases. Comprehends, analyzes, and maintains databases and/or data warehouse data schema, file structures, data relationships and reporting systems. Identifies and routinely uses most effective, cost efficient and best business practices to execute processes; continually evaluates their effectiveness and appropriateness. Exercises judgment in planning, organizing and performing work; monitors performance and reports status within area of responsibility. Anticipates and assures that quality of services meets or exceeds internal and external customer requirements. Remains current on developments in field of expertise and inspires/ mentors less experienced employees. Analyze requirements specified by the user community and design the required data structures to support those requirements. Review all current operational data structures and recommend optimizations and reconfigurations. Develop strategies for warehouse implementation, data acquisition, and archive recovery. Develop and maintain all standards pursuant to data structures and models. Work with project team members to plan, design, develop, implement, and enhance applications, scripts, procedures, and metadata for relational databases. Recommend and evaluate new tools and methodologies. Will provide full-life cycle architectural guidance and ensure quality technical deliverables. Will serve as the data technical strategy expert and will lead the creation of all technical requirements and design deliverables. Build, communicate & enforce cross-functional design and database standards. Required Skills: Typically an advanced degree in Computer Science (CS), Computer Information Systems (CIS), Management Information Systems (MIS) and/or equivalent technical degree plus 10 or more years of experience as a Data Architect in an RDMS, MDDBs environment Solid, quantifiable experience in: Metadata standards, Data modeling, Use of modeling tools, ERD Modeling, Dimensional Modeling / Business Dimensional Modeling, Erwin Logical/Physical Modeling, Source Data Analysis and Source Evaluation, Metadata Management including Data Standardization, Conformity and Repository Management, Data Quality & Data Profiling, Data Mapping Transformation Concepts, Oracle, and SQL/PL/SQL etc. Experience in Web based Architecture, XML standards and Education data transfer standards Experience in relationship database management and optimization. Possess knowledge of data management and data architecture functions including physical database design, data migration, state-of-the-art database technology, and Oracle relational database management system (10g Enterprise Edition); experience with data modeling (both UML class diagrams and entity-relationship diagrams), and metadata management, tools, and processes; experience with capacity management and testing including database and/or network performance analysis, and simulation; knowledge of service-oriented architecture (SOA). Requires comprehensive written and verbal communication, interpersonal, facilitation, presentation, quantitative, analytical, organizational, and follow-up skills, the ability to meet deadlines on multiple projects as well as the ability to converse effectively with all levels of employees. Have demonstrated ability to facilitate groups through complex technical decisions and build consensus. A documented record of delivering system architecture information that adds value to management's decision making process is required; this includes experience presenting proposals and recommendations to IT management, senior developers and infrastructure support personnel in selecting and implementing architecture decisions. Demonstrated ability to understand and comply with applicable FDA regulations and company operating procedures, processes, policies, and tasks. Must be able to handle multiple assignments.
