For more than fifty years our ships have sailed the oceans installing and maintaining undersea systems. Our services include systems engineering, route surveys, undersea and terrestrial installation and maintenance, system recovery and decommissioning, as well as complete shore-end and marine liaison work. You will be involved in the construction of fiber optic marine cable joints, maintenance and repair of jointing equipment, inventory control, resupplying materials, assisting in the ship cable control room, cable handling and reports. Will work on cable ships or barges, as well as onshore. Numerous types of cables and equipment are used for each project. Company paid training is provided including state of the art computer controlled programming and operation of fiber fusion machines and injection molding equipment. Training in radiology used for non-destructive QA checks of molded joints is also part of the training curriculum. You will travel extensively (domestic & international) with up to 50% shipboard travel anticipated over a period of a year. Sea deployments are broken up into 4 to 8 week periods (will vary). You may be deployed for shipboard repair maintenance assignments within 24 hours of receiving notice. Some of our key management personnel started their careers with our company in this position and moved their way up to higher levels of responsibility. HS degree or equivalent. Prior shipboard experience and fiber optic jointing experience preferred. Navy experience at sea is very helpful along with international work experience.Need excellent mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity. Basic electronic and/or electrical knowledge preferred. Must be willing to participate in on-going training and have the flexibility to travel as needed on an unscheduled basis.Willingness to work in a team environment is essential.
