Job Description Vice President General Manager, HPLC The person in this position will be responsible for financial and market performance of a major product family within the Scientific Instruments Division, initiating and overseeing (through direct reports) research and development programs(hardware and software) and product marketing for the product family. This person will develop and implement the global HPLC strategy and oversee the local implementation through the respective site leaders. Additional responsibilities include management for pricing strategies used to maximize contribution to company and delivering profitable growth in our established product lines, utilizing the divisional commercial structure to gain significant share in strategic areas. The VP/GM of HPLC plays a critical role in helping to maximize the ROI of our investment through implementing world class product development and launch processes; ensuring high impact global product positioning and promotion programs; and directing strong alignment between product management, marketing communications, and commercial leadership functions, including service.  The leader will be a critical member of the extended division leadership team, and must work effectively in a matrix management environment within the division and in cooperation with broader corporate contacts.  Other duties will be assigned.We require a bachelor degree in a relevant scientific discipline (chemistry, physics or biochemistry) along with 10 - 15 years of experience in chromatography or related high tech industry, which may include a background in marketing, sales, product management, and/or business development.  Applicants must have strong analytical capability and experience; strong business acumen with a proven record of success; and experience with integrating acquisitions.  The ability to coach and manage both product marketing and project management personnel across geographies and cultures is essential, along with the ability to influence multiple personnel in multiple functions and progress issues through a matrixed, functional organization to ensure success. Effectiveness with all levels of customer interactions from actual equipment users to heads of their organizations is a must.  Annual travel (domestic and international) in the range of 45% is required.  An advanced degree is preferred; MBA or equivalent business experience is a plus.
