UPHOLSTERY SPECIALIST
Elite Manufacturing, Inc., a proven leader in the design of contemporary furniture is currently seeking an upholstery specialist to head up the product development of new upholstery designs.
The person for this position will be responsible for creating high quality prototypes utilizing the most cost-effective methods and materials. Emphasis will be put on completing projects in a team-oriented environment and within a set schedule. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to produce superb quality for a design-for-manufacturing product line.
Key Responsibilities:
Utilize creative expertise with designers and ownership in the planning stage of new and elaborate product designs.Transition design prints from initial concept to the creation of finished prototype.Work with key team members in R & D department in combining raw materials (metal, wood, glass, upholstery) for the construction of a completed furniture product.Analyze proposed designs for the development of internal component specs in upholstery (foam, wood, plastic, etc). Serve as a pattern maker for new product introductions.Train upholstery staff in the fabrication of new product designs.
Experience Required:
o Extensive experience in upholstery development and production, preferably in the furniture industry.
o Strong communication skills in corresponding with internal and external sources.
o Resourceful and creative in bringing intricate designs to life.
o Ability to read and produce from design prints and engineering drawings.
o Sound knowledge of cutting, sewing, and foam building.
o Good familiarity of materials utilized in upholstery fabrication including leather, fabric, wood, foam, stitching, adhesives, plastics, and metals.
o Proficient technical skills in working with hand tools such as cutters, shears and staplers.
o Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish), but not required.
