Transportation Specialist

Summary:The Transportation Specialist will perform diverse activities to support inbound / outbound shipment activity in a JIT manufacturing environment. This position works closely with sales and installation teams to provide excellent service to a sophisticated end user market. Responsibilities (Essential Functions): Shipment Planning·        Plan domestic and Canadian truckloads and international export containers·        Select carriers based upon Wright Line Approved Carrier Program·        Ensure vendor / sister company compliance to Wright Line Approved Carrier Program·        Maintain pool of equipment (trailers, decking, straps, blankets) provided by outside carriers·        Coordinate inbound and drop shipments·        Determine order production priorities based upon transit times·        Monitor carriers’ daily pickup schedule·        Calculate transportation rates for all methods of shipment·        Transact shipments Customer Order Planning·        Ensure timely, damage-free, cost effective deliveries·        Provide transportation / specialized service quotations to sales force·        Expedite / de-expedite shipments·        Coordinate large / delivery sensitive shipments from multiple sites to one or more customer installation sites Customer Service·        Resolve customer delivery issues and resolve freight payment issues·        Collaborate with customers, sales representatives, installers, carriers, purchasing, vendors, marketing, engineering, manufacturing, shipping, credit and customer service for resolution of internal issues, customer delivery issues and transportation information Required Skills / Experience:Associates Degree preferred  Minimum 5 years domestic and export transportation experience preferably in a JIT manufacturing environmentComputer (AS400, Windows) EDI literacyExcellent communication skillsAbility to work in a fast paced environmentAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyAbility to integrate facts quickly and facilitate appropriate resolution
