Interacts with multiple teams, coordinating technical efforts to accomplish program objectives. Establishes and implements tactical and operational plans to achieve division objectives. Typically a mid-management level at a large division; may include centralized engineering support functions of a larger division. May serve at a staff level at a medium to small division.Functional technical areas include:Engineering: Aeronautical; Electronic/Electrical design; Computer systems hardware and software, Systems engineering; Mechanical design; Metallurgical engineering; Reliability; Test designEngineering Support: Configuration/data management; Engineering design; Engineering lab operations LEVEL CHARACTERISTICSI. ComplexityDefines projects and specific outcome measures for a major engineering unit. Coordinates the technical efforts of one or more teams. Acts as an advisor to division staff to resolve engineering and operational problems. Establishes and prioritizes multiple projects. Directs cross-functional and centralized engineering projects.II. ImpactFrequent interface with several customer contacts and across internal teams concerning project design, interdependencies, and schedules. Has primary responsibility in a major engineering unit of one or more teams for resource allocation and systems having an identifiable impact on program cost, quality and schedule commitments. Represents the organization as technical liaison in providing solutions to problems associated with projects.III. QualificationsKnowledge of product and engineering function that would typically be obtained through a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline, and eight or more years of progressive experience within that specialty. An advanced degree may be preferred. Demonstrated ability to perform in the described role and responsibilities and obtain the desired results.Four or more years of team and project leadership requiring advanced planning, project management and organizational skills.Thorough understanding of technical specialty areas, analysis tools, and the product development cycle, and general engineering practices.Demonstrated teamwork and team building skills in producing results and meeting organizational objectives. Capable of assessing and developing individual and team skills and capabilities. Able to create and maintain enthusiasm for new and challenging goals. Serves as a role model by promoting new ideas and positive change.Ability to build current and future technical talent through planned developmental assignments, support of continuous learning, and mentoring.In addition to the job responsibilities outlined in the Technical Team Leader job description the Technical Team – Innovation will: - Require Hydraulic Systems experience- Ability to discuss hydraulic system and component design and future needs with Aerospace customers- Manage Innovation Team at HSD (Kalamazoo and Germany) and provide on-site management support to the Marketing team.- Represent HSD at Group and Corporate Innovation meetings- Manage Winovation portfolio, budget, resources and gain corporation and customer funding- Provide status reviews to HSD management team.
