Technical Writer

Princeton Instruments, a global leader in high-performance CCD detectors, spectrometers and optics, is seeking a Technical Writer.

 

This position will work closely with Engineering, Technical Support, Manufacturing, and Marketing/Sales.  The technical writer is responsible for writing, editing, and updating user documentation for Princeton Instruments products, including digital camera systems, spectroscopy systems, and related software. Documentation includes user manuals, kit instructions, manufacturing procedures, and on-line help files.  In support of these documents, the technical writer is responsible for developing/acquiring the required graphic materials such as photographs, line drawings, and screen captures.  The technical writer is also responsible for creating postscript files to be supplied to an off-site printing company and for generating PDF files for inclusion on product CDs and posting to company directories. In addition, the technical writer is responsible for archiving all source materials related to the user documentation.  

 

A pertinent Bachelor's Degree and at least 2 years of technical writing and/or editing in a technology-based environment are required.  Candidate must have excellent written, verbal and organizational skills as well as an eye for detail and ability to quickly and easily grasp complex technologies.  Candidate must also be capable of working independently or as part of a team.  Experience in desktop publishing and computer graphics tools including Microsoft Word, RoboHTML/RoboHelp, Photoshop, Freehand, Acrobat, and Illustrator or similar tools is required.  Also required are excellent planning, scheduling, researching, and writing skills.
