Technical Engineering Manager

We are a manufacturer of commercial air conditioning compressors located in Lawrenceville, GA.  We currently have a position available for a Technical Engineering Manager who will provide technical engineering, trouble-shooting, application, problem solving and product development expertise to the compressor manufacturing quality process with the following responsibilities:

Review product design for compliance with company standards and customer requirements and evaluate and approve design, specification and drawing release changes.

Coordinate activities concerned with scheduling, resolving and reporting on engineering design issues and testing problems by managing the testing laboratory activity.

Provide project engineering expertise and assistance to other departments (i.e., testing, evaluation of product and/or materials, analysis, etc.) as necessary, spearhead related project completion timeliness and coordinate the build of prototypes and customer samples.

Monitor product performance and maintain adherence to UL and PED requirements and procedures.

Manage, analyze, evaluate and interpret test and tear-down analysis/data, reporting of product (new, used and returned) issues and the development and/or improvement of methods and procedures for analysis with an eye to manufacturing quality improvement and customer support.

Manage and coordinate engineering activities centered on the development, procurement, installation and calibration of instruments, equipment and control devices necessary to perform adequate product tear-down, testing and analysis.

Evaluate and participate in field installations as necessary.

Manage a staff of 2 exempt (engineer & CAD designer) and 4 non-exempt employees.

To be selected, you need a Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline (mechanical preferred) and a minimum of 5 years of directly related experience (scroll compressor manufacturing background preferred).  You will have to have management/supervision experience and be a decision-maker.  You will also have to be proficient at troubleshooting and analysis.

Education and experience in an environment requiring knowledge and use of thermodynamics and electronic principles will be a strong plus and the requirement for computer literacy is mandatory.  You will need to be a strong attention-to-detail, hands-on, on-the-shop floor manager as well.
