Team Buyer

Position Summary:

Purchases components, raw materials and sub-contract items from the suppliers designated by the Strategic Purchasing Group.  Ensures that product availability is met and delivery expectations of the customer are achieved while working within a team environment.

 Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

·  Reviews all material requirements for product group needs by working closely with the Product Group Planners to understand their requirements for purchased parts.

·  Places orders with Suppliers, including Associate companies, in line with Material Requisition Planning (MRP) requirements to ensure manufacturing schedules are met.  Works with domestic and international suppliers/vendors.

·  Maintains inventory between pre-determined levels to optimize production and work within a Demand Flow Technology (DFT) environment.

·  Monitors progress of orders and expedites open orders.

·  Reviews and resolves invoice discrepancies and approves invoices for payment.

·  Monitors purchasing data and works with Strategic Buyers to maintain accurate quote files, cost databases, supplier certification files, etc.

·  Ensures achievement of team goals and objectives as outlined by the Product Group Leader.

·  Updates MRP control parameters as appropriate.

·  Reviews excess stock report to minimize excess and obsolete materials exposure.

·  Processes Item Masters, Engineering Change Request (ECRs) and Special Price Quotes (SPQs), as required

·  Observes policies and procedures for ISO 9000 and organizational effectiveness as applicable.

·  Displays knowledge of all related safety or security regulations; follows safety and/or security procedures on the job. 

·  Attends and participates in safety events/meetings.Actively participates in team meetings.

.  Education/Experience/Skills Required:

·  Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in purchasing or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 

·  A working knowledge of manufacturing systems (MRP, DFT, etc.) is required.

·  Basic computer skills necessary. Certifications Preferred/Required:

IPSA Certification desirable, but not essential
