Tar Plant Distillation Supervisor

Koppers is a Pittsburgh-based international manufacturing company with over $1.4 billion in revenues, is seeking a Tar Plant Distillation Supervisor for its Carbon Materials & Chemicals Division Department located in Stickney, Illinois.

 Job Responsibilities

· Responsible for all aspects of daily operation of the tar distillation units

· Trouble shoot and schedule units with emphasis on safety and environmental compliance

· Work with CM&C and plant management  to set and attain production goals on a daily and monthly basis

· Actively support the SH&E Management System and safety objectives with a goal of zero incidents

· Successfully communicate goals to members of the department to attain production, safety and environmental objectives

· 4 shift supervisors and 19 chemical plant operators and processmen report to this position

  Qualifications

· B.S. degree; BS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering preferred

· At least 5 years supervisory experience and 3 years in an industrial plant

· Chemical plant experience with distillation column trouble shooting experience preferred

· Experience supervising union employees in a union environment preferred

· Strong leadership skills, integrity and focus on customer service

· Ability to foster a team environment with coaching leading to employee development

· Good planning, analytical and communications skills
