System Integration & Test Engineer - H1841

Job Description The candidate will work in Hitachi GST's System Integration Test (SIT) Lab located in Rochester, MN.  The SIT Lab is a dynamic environment where engineers work closely with Hitachi drive development engineers and our customers' engineers during the process of bringing a drive to market.  The SIT Lab services the entire hard disk drive product line.This position is on a team which tests the compatibility of enterprise (server) drives in our customers' operating environments.  The drives are still under development, so many firmware and hardware issues will be encountered.  The person will be responsible for configuring the drives and systems for test, and will then monitor and analyze drive logs, system logs, bus signals, etc. to determine test status.  Problems will be isolated, analyzed, and documented as they occur.  The person may need to develop unique test scripts to exercise the drive and system in the area of problem occurrence.  Finally, the person is expected to create test schedules, write reports, and communicate written and verbal status.Job Requirements Qualified candidates will have a BS degree in Electrical, Computer Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent work experience.  The candidate must have application level programming experience (C++ / PERL / etc.) and a working knowledge of Windows and UNIX / Linux system environments.  This system knowledge must include the ability to setup complex computer systems and understand system error logs.  The candidate must also be familiar with engineering test equipment, such as oscilloscopes and bus analyzers.  Finally, strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
