Structural Engineer

ArcelorMittal, the largest steel producer in the US, is seeking a Structural Engineer for its Indiana Harbor Plant which is located in East Chicago, Indiana.  East Chicago is approximately 25 miles from the Chicago Loop.

 

Job Description: 

The Structural Engineer manages plant critical infrastructure, structural inspection program, and report database. Plans, coordinates, reports on the visual inspections of all plant infrastructure.  As Structural Inspector he/she monitors inspections of structures and site conditions to secure compliance with building-related codes and ordinance regulating the inspection and repair of structures.

 

Job Requirements:Resolves problems related to infrastructure and structural inspections, which may involve: research of records, history and codes; field evaluation; investigation of alternatives; and proposal of solutions.  Develops inspections as required Maintains daily inspection records and drafts reports identifying violations and corrective action. Possesses job estimating skills and is capable of preparing labor and material cost estimates to complete repairs from inspection report findings Audits and reports on plant department compliance with completing repairs. Adjusts priorities as needed.Supervises subordinate personnel including: hiring, determining workload and delegating assignments, training, monitoring and evaluating performance, and initiating corrective or disciplinary actions. Attends professional seminars, meetings and training as required; ensures that all required licenses or certifications are maintained. Repair updates, Inspection findings, Monthly reports on budget Performs related duties as assigned.Must be in good physical shape, have good attitude, and desire to learn more about the field.

Experience Requirements:

Two to five year experience as structural engineer in related industry.

 

Education Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Structural or Mechanical Engineering.
