Staff Systems Analyst

 



Aleris is seeking a Staff Systems Analyst to join our team in Lewisport, KY.

Summary of the Position:

As a Staff Systems Analyst, you will support Aleris Rolled Products in the area of Legacy application development, system administration / design and database administration.  The primary focus will be on the Legacy Concast System, with secondary support for the Legacy SMACCS System.  This role will also develop solutions for computer-based information systems and applications using Aleris International IT Architecture policies, standards and procedures at the level necessary to meet business needs.  Technology solutions and operations processes adopted will have a business case developed and will be based on business needs and best practices.

 

Core accountabilities:

1. Always work in a safe manner; within the policies and procedures of Aleris Rolled Products.

2. Contribute to the development of Aleris Rolled Products, information technology strategies and policies.

3. Work with Aleris Business Unit staff to identify, scope, and prioritize necessary modifications to Legacy Information Technology systems.  Develop and recommend plans to achieve the authorized priority modifications.

4. Work with Aleris IT Steering Committee to implement any recommendations for long term support of Legacy systems or support strategy to transition to different system.

5. Develop and apply efficient and cost effective procedures for the operation and maintenance of the Legacy computer applications.

6. Participate in Business Process Modeling sessions, acting as a co-facilitator, facilitator, or subject matter expert in sketch sessions.

7. Work collegially with the corporate Aleris International Information Technology team members to ensure an appropriate level of integration between computer applications, desktop and server-based applications, and communications network Infrastructure.

8. Provide effective communication to all members of your output team.

9. Provide consulting, coaching and support for Information Technology services.

10. Provide team leadership / membership concepts with the objective of operating Aleris Rolled Products, information assets by following adopted best practices.

11. Perform audits and controls to ensure information reliability and integrity.

12. Implement and administer operational and DR processes for Legacy based Information Technology Systems platforms that are within both internal and external audit guidelines.  Address any deficiencies as required based on priorities established by Aleris International audit policies.

13. Adhere and promote Policies, standards, Procedures and best practices that support the Company’s business needs for the applications within your area of responsibility.

 

Requirements Include:

 Bachelor’s degree in any technical or business discipline or equivalent education / experience in related fields.At least 3-5 years experience in information technology roles with significant level of complexity or accountability, including accountability for the design and implementation of information systems is required.Experience in mainframe and distributed computing environments are required.Demonstrated experience in the analysis of the data, events, or activities that the system must address and the development of a system design, which can cope with, patterns in those events or activities. Knowledge of Systems Leadership Theory would be an asset.
