Sr. Transportation/Logistics Analyst
MSA (Mine Safety Appliances Company) is the global leader in the development, manufacture, and supply of sophisticated safety products, instruments, and services that protect people’s health, safety, and the environment. Our company has an immediate need for a Sr. Transportation/Logistics Analyst at our Cranberry Township, PA facility.
This position is the focal point for international import and export transportation, quantitative and qualitative data mining and subsequent analysis. Additional responsibilities include the development, preparation and presentation of monthly reporting for management review as well as the creation and implementation of performance metrics to improve operational efficiencies. Major duties include:
· Coordinate analysis, gather supply chain best practices and prepare monthly transportation reports.
· Coordinate the flow of import and export goods from US and foreign locations to include freight planning, less-than and container management.
· Assist various cross-functional teams with business case development.
· Improve logistics processes through strategic thinking, process improvement, prioritization, and project planning.
· Ensure that all transportation-related complaints are resolved and communicated to carriers and internal customers.
Special knowledge, skills and abilities required:
· Significant understanding of international transportation
· International import/export law
· Knowledge of government regulations relating to domestic/international transportation:
Department of Transportation (State and Federal), NAFTA, IATA, US Customs, IMC, FAA,
Surface Transportation Board, US export/import administration regulations (i.e. licensing requirements)
· Market lane structures and network optimization
· Freight classifications/harmonized tariffs codes
· Basic knowledge of transporting hazardous material
· Cargo insurance
· Freight claims
· Freight payment and audit process
· Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
· Strong organizational skills.
· Strong interpersonal relationship skills.
· Proficient in use of Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Preferred:
· Customs House Brokers License
· Access experience.
Education and experience required:
· Bachelor degree in Supply Chain, Logistics or Transportation.
Preferred:
· 5 years international transportation experience (encompassing the areas listed above) in a manufacturing environment.
