Sr. Technical Writer
Senior Technical WriterTyco Fire Suppression & Building Products is a division of Tyco Safety Products and a worldwide leader in the fire suppression and building products industries. Within Tyco Safety Products, we design, manufacture, and distribute thousands of products ranging from fire detection and suppression systems, personal protective equipment and intrusion security to access control and video solutions, anti-theft and supply chain solutions.Tyco Fire Suppression & Building Products (TFSBP) has recently been created by combining the 2 independent and successful businesses of Tyco Fire & Building Products and Tyco Fire Suppression. We are currently searching for a Senior Technical Writer to be located in our Cranston, Rhode Island facility. Job Responsibilities:This position is responsible for creating and directing the production of technical literature, electronic media, and web site documentation. Train, supervise, and review technical communications associates.Supervises, establishes objectives, provides training, and performs annual performance reviews for the technical communications function including graphic artist and graphics coordinator.Sets technical writing priorities according to product launch and update requirements.Organizes information and completes writing assignments according to established graphic standards while maintaining correct order, clarity, conciseness, style, terminology, and grammar.Interfaces with illustrators, photographers, print and web designers, artists, and other support personnel as required to complete assignments.Reviews documentation and interfaces with appropriate personnel to make certain technical literature is current and accurate in all published hard copy and electronic media.Follows appropriate ISO procedures for preparation, review, approval, and release of technical data sheets.Requirements: Bachelor?s Degree in Technical Communications from an accredited 4-year university. 7 10 years of technical writing experience.3 5 years experience training and supervising a technical staff.Proficiency in Microsoft Office software with Desktop publishing skills a plus.Fire protection background helpful with corresponding math skills such as algebra and fluid mechanics.
