Sr. System Design Engineer
Emcore Corporation is seeking a motivated Sr. System Design Engineer for the established Fiber Optic Communications group in Sorrento Valley building high-end video, audio, and optical communication systems for the broadcast, security/surveillance and other industries. The new position will be an integral part of a team that is shaping our future fiber optic communication systems for video, audio and data transmission. RESPONSIBLITIES The selected candidate will be responsible for leading, designing, developing, testing and supporting wide range of video audio and data processing products.. As a member of our R&D team, the selected candidate will work closely with other firmware and hardware engineers, as well as outside vendors and production team, in all project phases from definition to validation. This will involve hardware and system designing and unit testing of real-time innovative video signal processing and communication systems, in a multitasking environment.The selected candidate will create electrical schematics, BOM, test reports, lead and perform qualification tests, responsible for product release and documentation.In addition, the selected candidate will be required to perform various engineering tasks with minimal supervision, as well as provide trouble shooting, debug and technical support for customers and production team. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelors of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering specialization. At least 5 years in Orcad Capture and System Design.Experience leading layout engineers and familiarity with PADS. Good knowledge of Xilinx, Lattice and Altera development tools. Ability to debug C, Assembly and C++ in real-time embedded development environments.Familiar with development design review, specification, implementation, validation, verification, and related documentation. Good knowledge of TCP/IP and SONET/SDH protocols. Good knowledge of digital video standards such as SMPTE, H.264,RS-250CDesign for compatibility with EMI/EMC. This position offers no relocation.
