Senior Technical Architect

This position has overall responsibility for developing and maintaining ArvinMeritor's global Information Technology infrastructure architecture.  This includes defining and enhancing the architecture by directing, coordinating and advising architecture definition projects and initiatives;  by establishing and maintaining relevant enterprise-wide IS policies, standards, controls and procedures; and by providing technical expertise to business and IS leaders who may be contemplating infrastructure technology investment and to IS staff and business partner IS staff who are engaged in the support of existing IT systems.



*         Develop an overall technical strategy that focuses on current and future functional performance objectives, scalabilities, TCO and compliance with Enterprise standards.

*         Review and advise on technical designs and provide innovative and effective solutions.

*         Seek opportunities to improve productivity, drive down costs and improve platform scalability.

*         Drive standardization and best practices for applications and infrastructure.

*         Drive introduction of service oriented architecture and standard technology stacks.

*         Responsible for leading, mentoring and training IS personnel on critical aspects of the architecture program.

*         Leads the Architecture Review Process and provides architecture consulting to major systems development and implementation projects.

*         Research, recommend and promote architecture solutions and new technologies.

*         Determining technical approaches at a strategic level and ensuring all major technical decisions result in a coherent systems design.

*         Provides technology directional input to strategic teams, ensuring technology strategies are correlated to business drivers. 

*         Leads the development of technology road maps providing direction to carry out strategies.

*         Leads technology architecture process by ensuring technical requirements are consistent with technology direction.  This includes technical requirements and design reviews for all defined projects

*         Provide technical direction to ensure overall success of large, complex, multi-platform initiatives.

*         Provides in depth experience on in UNIX and Windows environments, with exceptional architectural ability in the usage of EMC technologies to all ArvinMeritor efforts the incumbent undertakes.  This includes solutions architectural input, design, construction, and implementation of infrastructures to meet business driven requirements.

*         Additionally with ORACLE RDBMS experience brings this expertise providing for infrastructure consulting, championing and selling change and innovation for as driven by IS strategy.

*         Provide production support for team queries as well as providing root cause analysis assistance to production support teams.        *     Provide impact analysis on critical hardware/software changes to production based on the complexity.



*         BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field, MS/MA Perferred.

*         Minimum 15 years of systems experience in operating systems, software and hardware infrastructure environments

*         Significant experience as a Solutions Architect, possessing the ability to "engineer solutions" which meet buisness needs for cross platform operating systems, software and hardware infrastructure environments.  Technical skills to facilitate major solutions implemetations.  This includes UNIX and Windows environments, with exceptional architectural ability in the usage of EMC technologies, and solid ORACLE RDBMS experience

*         Experienced in "Technical Infrastructure Consulting", possessing the ability to set directions, make the appropriate decisions, get the right individuals and skills involved as well as to champion and sell change and innovation.

*         Stellar customer orientation.  Focuses on customer need and drives for continueous inprovement.  This individual builds alliances with customers and suppliers.  Additionally, they are involved in professional organizations to augment their technical knowledge and bring best practices into the organization.

*         Experienced leading complex infrastructure projects.  Solid "Project/Program Management" and "Team Building" skills.  

*         Deep first hand experience with the design and deployment of enterprise with technology platforms.

*         Must be an outstanding problem solver and be able to look at issues from multiple angles and able to address solutions at both conceptual and detail levels.

*         Strong quality and customer service orientation.

*         Effective collaboration, relationship management and influence skills.

*         Motivated, self-directed and results oriented.

*         Excellent presentation and facilitation skills and a proven track record communicating at all levels within IT and the business.

*         Strong analytical skills including the ability to abstract key trends and issues from complex detail information.

*         Experience with reference architectures as a tool to drive common language and direction.

*         Experience with business processes modeling and mapping of business functions to services.         *         Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously & to work with deadlines.
