Position Description:

The Senior Program Manager is responsible for managing global, typically complex projects and / or large divisional projects to achieve business objectives and deliver business benefits, ensuring that risks are identified and managed appropriately, and objectives are achieved within budget, within time and to the required quality.•Plays the lead project management role on global, typically complex projects and / or large divisional projects•Provides project management methodology consulting support to Portfolio Managers•Supports PMO Manager to ensure that we continue to evaluate, monitor and improve the project management process.•May require up to 20% travelOn a daily basis candidates can expect to be involved with:•Responsibility for the definition, documentation and successful completion of complex projects, ensuring that realistic project, quality and risk plans are prepared and maintained and that a project change control procedure is in place.Monitor and control resources, revenue and capital costs against the project budget and facilitate management of expectations of all project stakeholders.•Leading one or more project teams; allocating and monitoring tasks, motivating staff and appraising individual performance on the project•Ensures that own projects are formally closed and, where appropriate, subsequently reviewed, and that lessons learned are captured and appropriate action taken.•Ensures that we continue to improve how projects are managed, in order to minimize risks to the MCBC arising from projects, maximize benefits to be realized from future projects and assure the continued development of the project management organization•Financial Management - establishes and manages program and project budgets as appropriate to ensure forecast consistency and annual plan compliance•People Management - manages a team of information technology professionals to deliver a portfolio of projects. Provides input to managers in establishing accountabilities and providing feedback for managers on the performance of team members.Knowledge / Skills / Qualifications:The role will require an understanding of and ability to apply the following:•Probably educated to degree level or holds a professional qualification.•Experience with operating at a managerial level a plus•Broadly skilled in information and communications technology. Has a comprehensive knowledge of relevant development life-cycles and strong interpersonal skills.•Expert in Progress Reporting -Methods and techniques for reporting progress and financial compliance against an agreed plan.•Expert in Project Planning and Control Techniques - Methods and techniques associated with planning and monitoring progress of projects. Examples: product/work breakdown structures, critical path analysis, earned value, resource analysis, conflict resolution.•Proficient in Project Management - Principles, methods, techniques and tools for the effective management of projects from initiation through to implementation. •Proficient in Project Risk Management - The identification, assessment and management of project risks, which could result in time or cost over-runs, or failure to deliver products which are fit for purpose.•Has lead departmental strategy formulation and business transformation and change in a division Has managed from beginning to end, cross-divisional / global projects in excess of $4MM capital spend. Has experience directly interacting with, on a routine basis, multiple division's Senior Executives and/or VPs. Has worked at a global level to identify and agree demand for and allocate divisional IT and business resources, working with external partners as necessary•Has personally managed more than 15 indirect report resources in a matrix environment. Previous application management development and/or support experience is not required, but is desirable.
