Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Our client is seeking a senior level, Mechanical Design Engineer who has experience with large and medium sized satellite earth station antennas and systems. The ideal candidate will have an electro-mechanical background to design systems that enabling antennas to move and to keep on moving accurately in tough environments. Familiarity with industry standards and practices is essential.
Our technology is leading the industry. Our target programs include the Deep Space Network, radio-telescopes and conventional, high accuracy, tracking communications systems. Our state of the art, earth station array is utilizing large earth station antennas that are controlled by precision engineered mechanical controllers for movement. Any experience with the electrical control systems of larger antennas would be an advantage.
Skills/Education: BSME or BSCE required. Experience in 3D design using Solidworks or equivalent. FEA analysis of structures and mechanical systems. Minimum 5 years experience.
Skills Preferred:
The ability to work as part of a small team and produce accurate and innovative ideas and designs.
B.Sc. or equivalent professional Mechanical Engineering qualifications.
Experience with FEA and other structural design techniques.
A strong industrial based, “hands on” background will also be useful in this important position.
Experience with Military Standards and Specifications important
Experience in interfacing with customers would be a plus.
