Senior Manufacturing Engineer - #2482
Draper Laboratory is an independent, not-for-profit engineering research and development organization. Its mission is to serve the national interest in applied research, engineering development, education and technology transfer. The core competencies leveraged in Draper's work are guidance, navigation and control for strategic systems; precision targeting and information management and decision systems; autonomous air, land, sea and space systems; reliable, fault-tolerant embedded software; and miniature, low-power electronic and mechanical systems. We are located in Kendall Sq., Cambridge, Ma.
Become a member of a team producing the world's highest performance guidance solutions. Duties include the development, evaluation, and improvement of manufacturing methods for hi-rel military avionics for advanced guidance systems. Utilizing knowledge of product design, materials properties, electronics components, and automated printed circuit board assembly methods, the candidate chosen for this position will work to ensure best practices are implemented for all phases of the product life cycle.
The ideal candidate must have demonstrated technically proficiency in the following engineering disciplines:
- Printed circuit board assembly Design For Manufacturability (DFM) and Design For Test (DFT) best practices
- Development of formal Level 3 drawing packages consistent with MIL-DTL-31000 or similar standards
- Development of formal production processes for high reliability military avionics
- Structured HW development and fabrication based on AS9100, IPC, ISO 9001, Six Sigma or similar methods
- Development of detailed project execution plans including budgets, schedules, staffing requirements in industry standard project planning tools such as MSProject
The successful candidate must be a detail-oriented self-starter with excellent oral and written communication skills, be capable of achieving organizational and program objectives, and be able to interface with all levels of internal management as well as program sponsors and sub-contractors.
Qualifications:
M.S. degree in EE, ME, Materials Science, Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent and 5+ years direct and demonstrated experience in a structured military avionics development and fabrication environment. Exceptional candidates with a B.S. and 10+ years directly related experience will also be considered.
