Please note: this position will be located at the Indiana Harbor East location in East Chicago, Indiana (1/2 hour southeast of downtown Chicago, Illinois.) This position will require a limited amount of travel.
Job Description:
We are looking for a talented Senior Income Tax Analyst to play a pivotal role within our growing Tax Department. The ArcelorMittal USA Tax Department currently has a partially outsourced compliance function to allow more focus on high impact areas. The Senior Income Tax Analyst will work closely with the Tax Managers and Tax Director to manage the Mittal Steel USA federal and state income tax function, including tax planning, management of IRS/state income tax audits, tax return compliance, and tax accounting for external financial reporting. This includes assistance with the following:
· Developing/implementing tax strategies and conducting research & analysis on specific issues related to federal and state income/franchise tax;
· Managing IRS and state income tax audits, including preparing responses to information/document requests and coordinating assistance of outside tax advisors;
· Preparing federal and state income tax returns by managing the outside accounting firm that prepares the returns, collecting and analyzing financial information, interpreting tax regulations, making decisions with regard to the preparation of returns, and calculating estimated tax payments;
· Preparing financial statement tax balances, reports, and records by collecting, analyzing, calculating, and summarizing tax information, and managing audits of financial statement tax balances by the external auditor;
· Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and SEC tax and financial reporting requirements by studying regulations, communicating with outside tax advisors, advising management on needed actions, documenting company positions, and enforcing adherence to requirements;
· Identifying and mitigating risks in Tax area, through a proper control system;
· Maintaining, modifying, improving and monitoring compliance with Tax Department systems and processes to ensure ongoing compliance with the internal control requirements of section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act; and
· Any other duties/responsibilities as may be required.
Experience Requirements:
Minimum Requirements:
· At least 3 years of federal tax experience; and
· Strong analytical, organizational, technical, communication, and teamwork skills.
Preferred Requirements:
· Experience in a Big 4 accounting firm and/or large corporate environment;
· IRS audit experience;
· Tax provision & financial reporting experience; and/or
· Tax research & planning experience.
Education Requirements:
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in accounting, finance, business or related field.
Preferred Requirements:
JD, MBA, or Masters of Taxation
