Senior Finance Manager
Works with Finance, Program Management, Contracts, IT, Research and Development, ILS, and Engineering (collectively Operational departments) to facilitate the communication and interaction amongst the operational representatives in regards to financial status of all customer programs with the aim of ensuring procedures and practices are in place for efficient financial performance on customer programs, contract management and administration in accordance with company policies, legal requirements and customer specifications. Member of both the finance department and the assigned operational department. Will act as key coordinator across all business units to ensure timely and accurate flow of financial information to the department.Will provide the operational department with strong financial and business expertise and guidance in company/departmental procedures.Will provide management understanding of financial opportunities and weaknesses to better accomplish Force Protection’s aim of building the worlds most advanced ballistic and blast protected vehicles.Responsible for ensuring that Operational teams comply with Force Protection’s financial reporting policies.Provide finance support for respective operational department in support of purchasing, acquisition and inventory control, asset management, and cost benefit analysis.Review, report and communicate contracts, modifications, and change orders on a daily basis; prepare and maintain schedule of revenues and costs, estimated and incurred, by contract, delivery order, clin and deliverable for each major operational program (i.e., Buffalo, Cougar, etc.)Review and communicate timing of revenue recognition prior to contract signing. Prepares and maintains billing and payment schedules, including definitizations per contract, delivery order, clin and deliverable for each major operational program (i.e., Buffalo, Cougar, etc.).Track and monitor programs from inception to completion using Gantt chart and other similar techniques. Track multiple programs against their schedules, budgets and against phase review objectives, reporting status to supervisor, customers and functional staff on a regular basis. Leads program teams and facilitates the communication and interaction amongst the operational representatives.Recommends new processes where needed to improve quality, communication or on-time delivery.Support the controller in the preparation of the consolidated schedules to support quarterly reviews and annual audits by external auditors.Assist in the development and deployment of strategic plans for the tactical and strategic direction as needed and directed by the operational department’s VP or EVPIdentify and assist the Accounting Policy Manager research, interpret and document technical accounting issues and financial reporting for planning and control throughout department. Identify and assist the Director of Governmental Compliance research, interpret and document compliance issues for planning and control throughout department.Responsible for internal financial analysis, variation analysis, and special packages for operational management meetings.Assist in the remediation of material internal control weaknesses in the operational departments.Any special projects as requested by FPI Management. Works closely with Finance to facilitate the processing of Government forms required for contract payments-milestone payments and DD250’s.Assist SEC Financial Reporting in ensuring that Force Protection’s accounting and reporting policies are in accordance with current generally accepted accounting principles.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors’ degree required with 7 years finance experience including 5 years in a leadership role. Master’s degree preferred. In lieu of degree requirements a minimum of 10 years experience in related field may be considered. Those holding a CPA/CMA (or ability to sit for the exam) preferred. Strong understanding and familiarity with Department of Defense accounting rules and especially Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) covered contracts under the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) system. Strong understanding of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Must have an understanding and work experience with accounting for long term contracts in accordance with AICPA Statement 81-1, Accounting for Performance of Construction-Type and Certain Production-Type Contracts. Working knowledge of AICPA Audit and Accounting Guide, specifically for Government Contractors. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication and problem solving skills. Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced change-oriented environment. Proven ability to problem solve methodically and analytically. Systems and creative thinking capabilities. Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a variety of situations and circumstances. Able to work independently and self motivating. Excellent follow-up skills with the ability to follow-through to completion. Proven ability to meet deadlines and to multi-task on multiple projects.
Efficiency with Microsoft desktop applications (i.e.; Excel, Word, Power Point, Access). Systems and creative thinking capabilities. Strong understanding of Process Flow and ERP systems. Knowledge of MAS 500 a plus. Capacity to understand and work with cross functional areas such as: plant operations, sales, ILS, and accounting. Individual must work in a safety conscious manner compliant with the company’s safety policies and procedures.
