We deliver our products primarily through Timberland stores, other specialty stores, better-grade department stores, concept shops and independent shoe stores across the globe.RESPONSIBILITIES: Actively participates in team creative R&D and observation sessions to generate ideas & solutions. Participate in cross-functional teams that collaborate on core project evaluations and implementation. Generates and drives conceptual development ideas and maximizes their supporting prototyping activities and processing developments. Emphasize the value of testing concepts to influence refinement and optimization. Perform coordination, communication & technical investigations on assigned projects. Provides development input for team creative activities. Contribute application expertise for materials, shoe constructions, product specifications and cost effectiveness. Consultant for prototyping, molding, assembly and technical matters for new development ideas, travel to Asia on a seasonal basis to ensure product is executed properly as well as production compatible. Performs investigation and research for development contributions for assigned new projects. Does hands-on prototyping where has the capabilities. Identifies tools needed to support R&D. Is the “go-to� problem-solver for development challenges and making sure concepts really work. Manage all projects to target FOB and margin as well as other seasonal metrics. Does project management of design/development implementation and processing activities. Manage to all seasonal deadlines and ensure deliverables for seasonal milestone meetings. Foster good relationships between key groups – In Line PD, Supply Chain, Product Management, Design, Suppliers. QUALIFICATIONS: Degree in Engineering or business or an equivalent of 10 years footwear industry experience with 10 years experience in design and/or development of consumer products, with minimum 5 years footwear development experience. A plus if has had prior involvement in Advanced Concepts. Proven capability in developing innovative footwear products. Strong conceptual & creative skills. Must understand footwear human performance needs and have strong networking/investigative skills. Proven project management and problem-solving experience. Willing and able to travel to Asia (20%).
