Senior Designer - Contemporary Sportswear Cut and Sew Knits

RESPONSIBILITIES:

ResearchDevelop initial concepts for line working closely with senior managementResearch trends, fabrics, finishes and trims.Assist in approving lab-dips

DesignResponsible for Design and direction of knit garments.Experience is wovens or sweaters would be a plusProvide designs that reflect the trends, but also, which reflect the integrity and aesthetics of the Vince brandPrepare technical sketches and spec detailing for Product Development team, including front and back sketch, construction details, illustration, material(s), trims, hardware spec

Development/Follow UpWork closely with the Product Development team throughout the development process to ensure the highest level of quality and integrityCollaborate with senior management in development of lineReview protos and samples and provide Fit Comments to Product Development teamAttend fittings and communicating changes during the Development stageReview Merchandise Plans and maintain calendar timingWork with Product Development manager to hand off all details, fabric, changes and trim info to Production after approval of sample line.

QUALIFICATIONS:

§  Min 5 years design experience in Contemporary Sportswear

§  Excellent interpersonal skills supporting a team environment

§  Excellent English communication - verbal and written

§  Excellent time management/project skills

§  Excellent PC skills using basic programs.  PDM would be a plus

§  Strong planning and organizational skills with a sense of priority for deadlines and attention to detail

§  Ability to recognize and react to changing work demands

§  Comfortable and confident in making effective autonomous (and group) decisions in a timely manner

§  Goal orientated: ability to stay focused on creating winning results

§  Strong illustration and flat sketching skills

§  Technical knowledge of fabric construction, finishes and techniques
