Senior Accountant
Greenbrier Rail Services is looking for a Corporate Senior Account to analyze and prepare financial statements, month-end closing, and journal entries. This position will support the Director of Corporate Accounting with Financial reporting by providing and maintaining accurate and valid financial information.
Essential Job Functions Include:
Perform complex accounting functions including adjustments, reconciliations, and substantiates entries to the general ledger and other accounting systems.
Assists in the preparation of the consolidated financial statements for GRS including supplementary schedules and footnote
Preparation of elimination entire
Reconcile consolidated Fixed Assets to FAS reports and location reports. Assist with questions from subsidiary locations regarding Fixed Assets and act as liaison between locations and FAS administrator. Completes consolidated Fixed Assets schedule and reconciles to consolidated financial statements including cash flow.
Analyze and reconcile accounting information detailing assets and liabilities and prepares monthly financial statements including: balance sheets, income statements, profit and loss statements, and other reports to summarize current financial position for GRS – Corporate and multiple subsidiary locations.
Assist with coordination of external audit and follow-up on reconciling items that need to be posted to the proper accounts as discovered in the audit as it relates to GRS Corporate.
Assist in resolving complex accounting issues and problems which may involve GAAP research for obtaining answers.
Assist with documenting Greenbrier Rail Services’ accounting processes as they relate to payroll, cash, accounts payable and receivable. Assist with developing and maintaining process improvements and internal control.
Demonstrate leadership through the use of good judgment, providing guidance to fellow team members, training others at every opportunity, and positively influencing the experience of all company employees.
Complete special analysis and projects as assigned.
Assist in the achievement of departmental goals and objectives.
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a minimum of two plus (2+) years of public accounting experience or minimum 5 years private accounting experience, CPA preferable but not require. A sSolid working knowledge of GAAP and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills necessary as well as advanced level Excel and accounting system skills.Greenbrier offers an excellent benefit package including 401(k), stock purchase plan, medical, dental, vision, life insurance and short term and long term disability benefits.
