Scientist, Polymer Research
Job Summary This research scientist will provide advanced technical support toward the accomplishment of the polymer research team objectives. The scientist will be working in fully equipped polymer and analytical chemistry laboratories, and the responsibilities will range from performing experiments and analyzing data to maintaining instruments and supplies for the day to day operations. This scientist will have daily interaction with other research scientists and technicians as well as development, quality, and manufacturing engineers. Experience with the following analytical techniques is preferred: FTIR, thermal analysis (DSC, DMS, TGA), GPC, GC, GCMS, HPLC. The ideal candidate would possess excellent organizational and general laboratory skills, be detail-oriented and conscientious. The ability to work independently as well as within a team environment is essential. General Functions Actively participates in experimental requests and research projects. Maintain daily interaction with other Research scientists, Development and Manufacturing Engineers. Work effectively with Legal, Regulatory and Quality departments. Participates in conducting experiments, analyzing data, maintaining equipment and supplies for the lab. This is not an exhaustive list of duties or functions and may not necessarily comprise all of the "essential functions" for purposes of the ADA Expected Areas of Competence (i.e. KSAs) § Utilize organizational and motivational skills to expedite completion of critical project tasks § Familiar with national and international standards.§ Possesses strong communication skills both written and verbal. Education Requirements B.S. in science required, chemistry preferred, with a strong knowledge of good laboratory practices & relevant research experience is required. Must posses knowledge of or be familiar with analytical methodologies and standard analytical techniques (FTIR, GC, GPC, etc.) Skill Requirements Microsoft Office Suite and Project Licenses/Certifications Travel Requirements 10% - 20%Education: BachelorsJob Level: 1 - 2 yearsPercent Travel: 11-20%
