Description:

 

We have an immediate need for a SQL Database Administrator. In this key position you will work with Application Developers to design and develop databases associated with various applications. Additionally, you will be working with the Information Systems team to define system requirements for these databases.

This position provides an exceptional opportunity to work across many departments of our company and has excellent growth potential. This person will be the only SQL DBA on staff.  

 

Qualifications:Bachelors Degree in Computer Science/Information Systems Technology/Engineering and at least 3 years of hands-on experience. Experience administrating Microsoft 2000/2005 SQL Server and Windows servers (They have 10 – 12 Database Servers Running on SQL and Microsoft 00’ and 05’)Experience in other database platforms a plus (ie. Oracle, DB2, MySQL, etc.) MCSE a PlusCompany has 25 to 30 Proprietary Software Products

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:Maintain SQL and Windows Servers (Patch, troubleshoot, issues)Work with application developers, users and customers to define both functional and technical database specifications Design and develop proper database tables, views, stored procedures, etc. for these applications. Work with Information Systems team to define, develop and implement hardware, licensing, monitoring, and backup requirements. Troubleshoot issues, maintain patch levels, and perform warranty change outs and upgrades on Databases and other Windows servers. Develop proactive monitoring of SQL databases to assure maximum uptime and minimum interruption to users of the databases. Provide support and direction for existing SQL database applications.Training of developersAct as a Liaison between departmentsHelp Drive Change, Production and Development Side
