Pall Corporation is seeking an R&D Engineer to be located at its San Diego Industrial facility. This position is primarily responsible for insuring the orderly transfer (scale up) of new membrane processes/product developed by R&D into manufacturing.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Work with manufacturing to create documentation for the production environment and to use the standard IQ process to qualify all equipment upgrades and installation. Work with raw material suppliers to identify material, safety requirements, specifications and limits. Develop product specifications based on application requirements, as well as processes to meet required process capability prior to production transfer. Work with manufacturing to determine environmental impacts and ensure all regulatory requirements are met. Maintain R&D labs and chemical storage areas, where this position may be assigned, in accordance with the internal Chemical Hygiene Program as well as state and federal requirements. Establish quality and reliability objectives of finished product. Develop manufacturing methods for R&D product transfer. Apply statistical methods and perform mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing process capabilities. Communicate with management via reports and meetings the status of R&D new membrane process transfers to manufacturing. As a member of the Product Development Team, estimate production cost and effect of product design changes for management review, action, and control. Hands on requirement to mix/cast/dry/test R&D product.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Requires a Bachelor of Science in Chemical/Mechanical Engineering.5 to 7 Years experience in process transfers into a manufacturing environmentPolymer chemistry experience a plusAbove average interpersonal skills to work as a liaison between functional departments
