QUALITY CONTROL TECHNICIAN



 

General Summary:

Learns about testing products, calibrating equipment, and quality control reports, creating data formats and how to troubleshoot equipment/machines. Identifies improvement ideas within the laboratory. Works closely with other team members and other departments.

 

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:Performs various tests on products including density, viscosity, particle size, assay and trace elements, ionchromatography and pH.  Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures in laboratory operations.Compares test results with established quality criteria.  Calibrates lab equipment.  Records and inputs data results.  Prints out reports, generates quality control data, and graphs for tests performed.  Maintains sample inventory and storage. Monitors quality control laboratory supply inventory and places replenishment orders as necessary. Maintains and cleans all quality control equipment.Other duties as assigned.

Job Conditions:

Laboratory environment, overtime required, constant standing, exposure to electricity/ equipment/ hazardous chemicals/thermal hazards. 

 

Receives detailed instructions and works under close supervision of other team members and laboratory supervisor.

 

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree or other specialized training in chemistry, physics or other closely related field.  Must have 3+ years as a technician working in a lab environment and experience using a mass spectrometer preferred.  Knowledge of analytical quality control tools such as SPC a plus.
