Quality Technician II

The Quality Technician provides advanced metrology skills, data collection and analysis, quality systems knowledge, and problem solving to ensure compliance to established quality standards and customer specifications.

1. Product and Process Support
• Performs tasks such as initial validation of complaint, traceability, interim action/containment, failure analysis, disposition, and supports the Problem Solving Team for both customer complaints and internal manufacturing issues.
• Completes quality work requests (QWR's) to support the New Product Development Teams and Manufacturing Value Streams with part measurements and analysis.
• Performs First Article Inspections and Design Capability Studies as required.
• Provides measurement support to Manufacturing for basic measurement tools or automated measurement equipment (set-up, programming, teaching and training, troubleshooting, etc.).
• Completes measurement equipment verifications, as required.
• Participates in gauge R&R studies for measurement system analysis.
• Collects and analyzes data, within assigned manufacturing areas, and generates reports (Pareto, Statistical Process Control, and Process Capability Studies).
• Supports the Value Stream and Quality Engineer with Key Process Quality measures on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
• Supports the Value Stream and Quality Engineer with the development, implementation, training, and use of Statistical Process Control.
• Participates in continuous improvement (Green Belt projects) within assigned manufacturing areas.
• Initiates the blocked stock process for issued Quality Notifications (QN's) and provides input to material disposition decisions.
• Performs 6S activities in all assigned manufacturing areas.

2. General Metrology, Application, and Control
• Demonstrates advanced measurement and inspection skills, including programming, troubleshooting, and application of complex electronic non-contact measurement equipment.
• Creates and runs program files on automated equipment for part inspection.
• Maintains proper use and care for measurement equipment.
• Responsible for the gauge control and calibration process for assigned area.
• Ensures measurement equipment calibration is current before use.
• Develops advanced inspection methods.

3. Documentation and Audits
• Assists with the development of inspection procedures and control plans.
• Creates Engineering Change Requests (ECR's) for changes to inspection procedures, control plans, and aesthetic specifications.
• Participates in audit functions (product, process, and operating system) ensuring quality systems and products are consistent with internal documentation, standards, and customer requirements.


 

Associates Degree in a technical field or equivalent; minimum 6 years experience as an inspector or technician in a manufacturing environment; technical training in geometric dimensioning and tolerencing, blueprint reading, and statistical process control; Able to work independently in a fast paced, dynamic manufacturing environment. Demonstrates effective problem solving, analysis, time management, leadership, and documentation skills. Proficient using Microsoft Office, ERP (SAP desired), and ASI. Skilled using a variety of measurement equipment including calipers, micrometers, gauge pins, drop indicators, dial indicator, surface plate, optical comparator, smart scope, and coordinate measuring machine (CMM). Able to program automated measuring equipment.
