Job Description: Quality Control / R&D Manager

 

Purpose of Position:

The purpose of this position is to support company growth by providing technical assistance for current lines of corn and wheat flour products. To manage the QC/R&D application of systems and to contribute to improving of manufacturing processes. Position requires plant experience; it requires a dynamic and professional individual to take lead in the quality control and R&D efforts. Reporting to the Director of Operations, this position requires a skilled individual to ensure the tortilla manufacturing continues to produce safe, wholesome and high quality products for La Canasta Foods.

 

Education / Experience:Will have a degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Health, Chemistry, Microbiology or a related fieldMust have 4-6 years experience in a quality control role with a food background, along with experience supervising QA techniciansKnowledge and experience in food safety, quality and regulatory requirements governing food handlingGood oral and written communication skills – Bilingual English/Spanish is a must Ability to establish good working relationships with all levels at the Plant and Management teamComputer skills and analytical problems solving ability is required


Responsibilities:Directing and coordinating the administration of policies, programs and procedures for all quality control functionsManage outside laboratory testingPlant auditing, (HACCP, AIB, GMP’S) Pest control programState regulatory compliances, (LAB TESTING, SANITATION PERMITS)Must be able to recognize value-added opportunities for the CompanyResponsible for product protection, finished goods quality, regulatory compliance, and consumer satisfactionVisit customers to provide technical supportFollow up on customer’s complaints related to quality / formulationManage the plant sanitation effortsPrepare documents to claim vendors credits related to qualityCoordinate materials inspection and approve usageQualify vendorsPrepare formulas and product specificationsReformulate products as requested by La Canasta management teamNutritional analysis / statements / labels / all data management Bi-Lingual (English/Spanish) preferred
