Quality Control Manager

Kendal Floral seeks a Floral Quality Control Manager for its Aurora, Oregon office to Develop, implement, and administer company's quality control program. The Floral Quality Control Manager provides technical support to farms, sales and account managers, and customers. The person in this position also directs efforts to maintain and improve quality standard.

 

Kendal Floral manufactures floral bouquets and distributes them from its three locations in Carlsbad, CA., Monterrey Bay, CA., and Portland, OR. 

 

The Floral Quality Control Manager develops processes and procedures for quality control in order to create standardization among the various locations. The person in this position also:Ensures that all products meet defined quality standards for freshness. Develops procedures for evaluating new varieties in the areas of marketing and product quality. Inspects samples from all arriving shipments for quality, color assortment and provides any relevant feedback. Inspects company manufactured product to ensure product meets customers' expectations.Inspects and evaluates third party product to ensure it meets acceptable standards.Inspects rejected product to determine eligibility for credit and inspects flowers from critical inventory to determine if they can be sold on the open market or locally. Prepares a monthly credit summary by customer, farmer, and flower and analyzes the data to reduce credits and identify quality trends. Provides flower inspection training to the sales team on a regular basis.Maintains a quality control display to promote sales and keep the sales team up to date on trends, varieties, and quality issues.Coordinates labor for repacks to minimize discrepancies with orders.Evaluate new variety samples from farms and provide feedback.Compiles and sends discrepancy report for each delivery to minimize errors at farm level.

 

Requirements:

 

· Bachelor’s degree in Botany, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field;

· Three years experience in quality control of fresh cut flowers; and

· Proficiency in Spanish
