Quality Assurance/Manufacturing Engineer
A Worcester, MA manufacturer is seeking a Quality Assurance/Manufacturing Engineer who will be responsible for a wide range of engineering activities associated with the control and efficiency of the manufacturing process and the quality of the finished product in a sheet metal fabrication environment.
Will liaise with Design Engineering to assist in the release of new product projects (NPI) to manufacturing. Will assist in the analysis and development of production equipment, tooling, jigs and fixtures, assembly lines (cell development) and quality control equipment and systems. Will write work and inspection instructions, conduct employee training, and collect and analyze data to identify and correct manufacturing problems. Will lead NPI project teams to create FMEA, PPAP, DFMA, Root Cause Analysis, etc. to meet the requirements for Development Process Quality Tollgates.
For mature products, will create CAR and ECN action item requests related to quality problems or customer complaints, and lead containment efforts to prevent nonconforming product from reaching customers. Will perform audits of key internal processes across the business in support of ISO9001 compliance, and lead improvement projects focused on quality and cost reduction. Will create reports and presentations using a full range of MS Office tools.
A Mechanical or Industrial Engineering Degree is preferred along with 5 years of relevant experience. 6 Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification and ASQ certification (CQE, CRE, CMQOE, CSQA) is desired.
Candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills and must be comfortable interacting at all levels within the organization.
