Our core values - ethics and integrity, independence, innovation and quality - are the foundation of our company and drive every decision and action we take.If you thrive on challenges and have the ability and talent to be a Timken associate, we currently have an opportunity to join our team.The Quality Advancement Engineer position exists to maximize and continuously improve customer satisfaction, relating to the organization and maintenance of a comprehensive quality system to ensure compliance to applicable quality system (ISO9001-2000) and customer standards, adherence to customer/engineering specifications, and resolution of customer, internal and supplier quality issues. This position is part of the plant quality team, and provides support to manufacturing operations regarding product metrology, process quality and advanced product quality planning (APQP). 1. Develop and maintain a technical understanding of all types of electronic and hard gauging used at the Timken - Tyger River Plant. Serve as the plant expert and resource person providing training and technical support for the entire Tyger River Plant team. 2. Lead efforts to continuously improve plant-wide Quality Systems by improving accuracy and precision of gauging systems and the skill level of plant associates who utilize the equipment. 3. Participate in customer and third party audits of the Tyger River Plant quality system. 4. Assist in the development and training of associates in quality system procedures and work instructions. 5. Develop and maintain an interpretative understanding of the ISO9000 series of quality system standards, thus serving as the plant expert and resource person providing training and technical support to for the entire Tyger River Plant team. 6. Develop and maintain open communications to effectively resolve issues related to the quality system. This includes not only with local operations and associates, but also other Timken locations, business units, service engineers, customers and suppliers. 7. Keep the product hold area current and provide data analysis, root cause problem solving for corrective & preventative action, as well as timely/accurate reporting to plant leadership. 8. Take a lead role in investigation, follow up and timely response to product quality issues, manufacturing issues, and information requests as related to customer inquiries, concerns and/or complaints. 9. Coordinate the return of all non-conforming supplies (rollers, cages, hard stock, purchased components packaging material). 10. Take an active role in the development and implementation of new product functionality, by participating as required in the design for manufacturability (DFM & Code Teams), as well as the New Product Opportunity (NPO) team. 11. Participate on appropriate cross-functional continuous improvement teams, as required to meet plant business plan objectives. Required: 4 year BS Degree in Engineering with 3 to 5 years experience in manufacturing and/or quality with ISO Auditor Accreditation. Desired: Previous experience in manufacturing with metal cutting, grinding and/or heat treat operations. Experience in ISO9000 certification and supplier development. Previous experience with bearings a plus. Minimum 3 years experience in a plant environment, with fundamental manufacturing, design and application knowledge. Working knowledge of engineering databases, gauging and inspection methods. Intranet, Internet, and Microsoft Office applications especially MS Word and MS Excel. Knowledge of ISO standards with auditor training preferred. Good interactive, time management and communications skills.
