Purchasing/Inventory Agent Wanted

On behalf of our client, Rose Displays, we are searching for a highly organized, strong and proactive Purchasing/Inventory Agent to will choose foreign and domestic suppliers, negotiate prices, and issue contracts and purchase orders that ensure the right amount of product or service is received when it is needed, and acquired cost effectively.  The Agent will also oversee inventory, optimizing and maintaining levels both in house and at suppliers to meet the production needs of the Company.  Travel to Supplier locations, tradeshows or off site inventory locations may be required.

 

Purchasing Key Responsibilities:Assume lead role in the Supplier Selection and Assessment process.  Negotiate Supplier contracts, consisting of price negotiation, availability, terms and warehousing requirements.Develop, measure, report and act on supplier performance metrics.Routinely evaluate and develop alternate sources to ensure the smooth flow of material to support production and fulfillment requirements. Create and maintain Supplier files including contracts.Create and issue accurate and timely Purchase Orders.Follow market conditions, price trends and futures markets to forecast costs and availability of key products.  Recommend purchase strategies to capitalize on opportunities.Create a system to manage all backorders, and issue timely status reports to Warehouse Manager and Sales.Member of the Product Rollout and Large Order Rollout Teams.  Liaise between Suppliers and the Teams with regards to lead times and prices.

Inventory Key Responsibilities:Create and maintain Supplier lead time matrix for materials management.Working with the Warehouse Manager, maintain accurate inventory counts Evaluate usage and develop minimums, maximums and safety levels based on “days out� for all parts.Manage the Inventory database module within Vantage (e.g. pricing, minimum purchase levels). Create and maintain MOMs (Methods of Manufacturing/Materials) in Vantage.Assign part numbers using current methodology and maintain record system.

 

Required Skills and Experience:BA/BS degree required, business preferred.2 – 4 years proven success in similar position.Experience in a lean, six-sigma or other quality-focused environment.Strong computer skills—Microsoft Office and Internet a must; Epicor’s Vantage preferred.Strong negotiation skills.Ability to multi-task.Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.Bilingual a plus.Bend and lift products weighing up to 15 pounds continuously, 25 pounds frequently, and 40 pounds on occasion.  Push or pull up to 40 pounds on occasion.
