Programmer / Analyst (AS400)

Brooks Instrument, a leading global manufacturer of flow measurement and control instrumentation, has an exciting opportunity for an AS400 Programmer / Analyst.  In this position, you will be primarily responsible for supporting users in an AS400 MAPICS environment.  Typical job duties will include:

 Maintaining, modifying and testing existing RPG/RPG IV programs. Working with users to analyze problems, and designing and developing applications on an AS400 MAPICS environment.Gathering and preparing functional / technical specifications detailing additions or changes to programs.Communicating project progress throughout the organization.Supplying time and complexity estimates of work.Supporting internal users in both hardware and software for problems relating to the MAPICS environment.Writing reports to support the flow of information to management. 

Requirements

 Must at a minimum possess a technical certification and / or two year degree in an Information Technology related field.  However, a BS in Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.Have proven experience working with AS400 and MAPICS (or similar) environments.Have a minimum of 4 years of experience working with RPG, SQL and the IBM iSeries AS400.Have a solid understanding of DB2 and relational file structures.Demonstrate strong verbal & written communications skills, and must be able to interact with all levels of management and staff. Effectively be able to work independently as well as in a team setting.Exhibit strong organizational skills with the ability to work towards and meet deadlines.

 

In addition to the previously identified job requirements, successful candidates will preferably have prior experience in manufacturing setting, have an understanding of web programming language (e.g. Java, PHP), and have a working understanding of networking fundamentals.
