Production Superintendent - Paper Industry

PURPOSEResponsible for safe and efficient production of quality paperboard at lowest cost. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES·        Manages all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Company accounting policies and financial control procedures. Ensures that Subordinates are trained and aware of the requirements of the Company Standards of Business Conduct Policy.·        Acts as leader of safety program for production group.   Conducts meetings, oversees safety huddle program, and ensures safe work procedures are in place and followed. Is responsible for safety program and safety results.      Additionally is responsible for housekeeping in production work areas and administering a program to insure good housekeeping practices.·        Is responsible for hiring decisions of all hourly and salaried positions in production department.  Has responsibility for all training and operator skills development activities for production group.   ·        Is responsible for the production of the mill, insuring productivity targets are met or exceeded.   ·        Is responsible for mill paperboard quality performance, insuring customer paper and packaging specifications are in place, understood, and that the mill meets customer quality expectations at all times.·        Is responsible for mill costs as they relate to production of paperboard – oversees paper chemical programs’ costs and effectiveness; manages furnish consumption patterns, and production labor utilization / overtime. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES Comply in all respects with the provisions of the Company Standards of Business Conduct Policy required.   QUALIFICATIONS  EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree preferred and/or 7-10 years related experience in production management in a manufacturing environment. Creative problem solving and solution implementing ability a must. Papermaking Technical abilities required. Good leadership and communication skills required. Must be able to multi-task and manage time proficiently. Ability to resolve conflict in an efficient and timely manner.
