For more information about PolyOne visit www.polyone.com The Production Associate I sets up and operates resources to combine dry and/or liquid chemicals into customer products. Ensures the highest quality product at the lowest possible cost and meets customer specifications and delivery requirements in accordance with PolyOne policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Sets up and starts all machines, checking all controls for adherence to mixing procedures.
-Obtains the correct documentation for the batch. Ensures the correct ingredients are delivered to the work area. In certain product lines, may be required to obtain the correct ingredients for mixing and weigh out the ingredients to meet the recipe specifications.
-Empties the ingredients into the resource in the correct order, following the blend list. Operates the resource to mix the ingredients according to procedures. May operate one or more resources at a time or may partner with another operator. Takes samples of the batch to quality control for testing. Follows lab instruction as to adding raw materials to the batch to bring it into specifications. Labels finished product.
-Refers issues/problems to lead/supervisor for disposition. -Coordinates removal of completed batch with the material handler. -Performs all required machine cleaning.
-Completes and maintains all required SAP documents.
-Follows and complies with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintains departmental housekeeping standards.
-Provides training on mixing processes/procedures to new employees as needed.
-Other duties as assigned.
Required Education:
-Requires high school diploma or GED equivalency.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
-Must be able to read/comprehend written and oral instructions in English; read and comprehend safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and product recipes/material identifications.
-Must have math skills to add, subtract, multiply and divide and the ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance.
-Must be able to effectively communicate in English one-on-one and in small group situations.
-Must have ability to reason and address problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
-Must have manual dexterity sufficient to operate a wide variety of small hand tools, scales, spatula, barrel cart, hand trucks, fork lift, utility knife, and mixer/blender machinery and computer equipment.
Required Length & Type of Experience:
-6 months to 1 year of related industrial experience preferred, but not required.
Required Certification, Licenses, Registration:
-May require obtainment of a Fork Lift Operator's License.

-Work is inside and the typical noise level is loud.
-Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.
