Product Engineer - Southfield, MI

Description:Eaton Corporation located in Southfield, Michigan has an opening for a Product Engineer.The position involves implementation of prototype control systems in vehicular powertrains, analytical evaluations of commercial vehicle powertrain systems, system design recommendations based on the results of analytical analysis, prototype control system implementations, creative and commercially viable solutions to design issues. The essential functions are to:- Design, develop, and validate high-fidelity dynamic models of commercial vehicle powertrain systems, subsystems, and components, including diesel-electric hybrid powertrains with electrical energy storage and power conversion devices. - Use dynamic models to simulate vehicle performance, fuel economy, and operating characteristics.- Use dynamic models to evaluate the technical feasibility of advanced product concepts and to provide data to support evaluations of commercial feasibility. - Use dynamic models to investigate powertrain control strategies and to determine the relative values of different control strategies. - Understand, interpret, and clearly communicate simulation results to other engineers and to management both verbally and in writing. - Implement and test prototype control systems for vehicular powertrains in dynamometer or vehicle installations. - Provide creative and commercially viable solutions to issues that arise during the course of development of hybrid powertrain system products and prototypes. - Use multi-disciplinary engineering knowledge to analyze the technical and commercial merit of technologies that are not presently utilized in Eaton's product lines. - Stay informed of and implement advances in dynamic system modeling. - Define, plan, and execute all aspects of a modeling/analysis effort as required to support a development project's objectives.Qualifications:This position requires a masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering and two years of experience in vehicular powertrain controls development and simulation in industry or academia.Salary/Benefits: Salary commensurate with experienceJob Location: Southfield, MIJob Number: 27839BRCompany URL: http://www.eaton.com/careers Eaton Benefits Company: www.eaton.com Location: Anniston, AL 36201 Status: Full Time, Employee Job Category: Engineering Relevant Work Experience: 5+ to 7 Years Job Number: 27839BR.1072
