Product Engineer

Job Title:               PRODUCT ENGINEER

Reports To:           Engineering Manager

FLSA Status:         Exempt

 

 SUMMARY

Product Development Mechanical Engineer to develop and test new products as well as make changes/enhancements to existing products. Research, development, and design, cost reduction and testing of mechanical and electromechanical systems as well as interaction with sales/marketing, field service and manufacturing.  Additional focus on infrastructure development and product documentation.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Design and development, from concept through implementation to the factory, & sustaining support which include: Responsible for project detailed list of requirements, and time line Researches and analyzes data, and specifications, to determine feasibility of design Designs structural components & electromechanical systems Tests prototypes for validation of design  Prepares product configuration Assists in part procurement Prepares documentation, drawings, manuals… Coordinates training Interacts with manufacturing in implementing manufacturing protocol Supports product after implementation Product maintenance Takes active roll in product enhancement, and cost reduction initiatives Documents and communicates standard product engineering changes

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

Proficiency in ProEngineer required.  Experience with Solidworks is a plus.

Design and support of electromechanical and drive train equipment experience

Strong analytical/theoretical background with solid engineering design fundamental skills

Familiar with product configuration software – Epicor Vantage

Exceptional communication and time management skills

Commitment to meet schedule due dates

Proficient with MS Office, Word, Excel, and Project

Position will require limited travel

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

BS in Mechanical Engineering and 3+ years of related experience
