About the Opportunity
Popper Precision Instruments is searching for a Process Planner to join the Lincoln, RI facility. Details of the position are as follows:

SUMMARY
Will be responsible for planning the manufacturing processes to manufacture components to customer requirements. This involves generating work orders for production, quality planning, and coordinating the purchasing of any required outside services. Will study and try to improve the quality of goods produced, and the efficiency and economics of production (job improvement). Will plan jobs for production methods and recommended alternative methods and plan for material-handling and packaging methods and suggest or implement changes that reduce physical effort, increase safety and reduce handling costs. Will generate a significant number of CAD drawings using customer prints and / or samples as a starting point and working backwards into in-process drawings / specifications. Understands basic tooling concepts required to design simple fixtures in support of work planned. Employ practical and creative approach to problem solving to support plant operations. Study work processes, tasks and operations in order to promote efficiency and productivity.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE     Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes and associated economies of scale (e.g. laser
                cutting vs. stamping and economic order quantities).     Basic knowledge of material properties is desired.     Good analytical math skills required.     Lean Manufacturing and / or Six Sigma experience is desirable.     Associates or Bachelor's Degree in related engineering field preferred.     2 - 5 years related experience.     Knowledge of drawing practices and basic GD&T principles

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS     Excellent verbal communication skills     Good technical writing ability.     Ability to work effectively in a team environment with Shop Associates, Purchasing
                Professionals, Quality Managers, Engineers and Production Managers.     Able to work independently     Active listening skills - listen to others and appropriately responds / asks questions as needed.     Takes initiative and has a sense of urgency     Enjoy technical and engineering activities     Able to identify, analyze and solve problems

COMPUTER SKILLS     CAD skills required, AutoCAD & Solid Works experience preferred     Proficiency in using MS Office, Internet and e-mail
