Position Description:

Qualifications:

POSITION SUMMARY: The incumbent will apply scientific approaches to work on continuous improvement projects related to processes for production of fused ceramic grains & powders that result in improved productivity, quality, consistency, yield and reduced cost. 1. Review existing processes, identify areas of improvement and implements action plans to improve key process parameters, i.e., productivity, consistency, product quality, cost, etc.2. Act as liaison to R&D for industrialization of new products at the plant. New product industrialization could include capital investments. 3. Ensure technology utilized for existing processes are state of the art. Recommend improved technologies if current technology is out-dated.4. Lead a program to implement concepts that reduce waste at the plant, i.e., Lean Manufacturing, World Class Manufacturing.COMPETENCIES: This position requires a BS in Materials Science, Ceramic Engineering or Chemical Engineering. Experience is not required but 2-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment would be a plus. Applicant should be self motivated with an aptitude for learning new technologies and knowledge for process engineering.
