Principal Software Engineer

 Applies diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and product concepts.  Makes decisions independently on engineering problems and methods and represents engineering in defining product specifications, product concepts and project execution. Accomplishes work in accordance with schedule, cost and performance objectives.  Requires the use of advanced engineering techniques and the application of theories and practices in related sciences and technologies.  May assume primary responsibility for defining and guiding the basic architecture of a new product or system.  Supervision and guidance are normally limited to overall objectives, new concepts and policies.  Must have: · Strong coding skills· Experience with C++ and MFC· Object oriented analysis, design and developmental skills· Ability to lead engineering projects· Strong interpersonal skills with good verbal and written communication skills· Work with minimal supervision.  Supervision and guidance received relate to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts and policy matters· Creativity-provide quality end products In timely manner with a sense of urgency· Perform engineering activities based on the quality system. Nice to have:  · Database skills using SQL· Background in mathematics· Signal processing· Physiology/biomedical engineering· Client/server programming. Education Requirements or  Equivalent:  BS and 8 years experience, MS and 5 years experience, PhD and 3 years experience
