Plant Manager-Primary Operations

The Plant Manager-Primary Operations is responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the Granulated Coal Injection facility, Blast Furnace, Q-BOP, Ladle Metallurgy facility, and Continuous Caster facilities in the production of iron, raw steel, slabs, and rounds from which flat rolled steel products or seamless tubular products are made and supervision of a highly skilled workforce of over 500 management and hourly employees.

 

 

Major Responsibilities:  Achieve safe, timely, acceptable, economical production in a group of diverse production facilities with fluctuating operating levels. Meet customer requirements for shipments and service. Build, lead and motivate an effective organization (both management and non-management) to provide them with the opportunities to advance to their full potential. Manage all Continuous Improvement program activities within the plant primary operations organization. Utilize all available works and corporation resources (technological, procedural, capital, cost control, human resources, etc.) to improve plant operations; and assure effective collaboration with headquarters supporting services including technology groups such as Blast Furnace Engineering Technology, Best Practices, etc. Assure compliance with environmental requirements in the Primary Division in the area of air, water, and solids. Establish and maintain effective community relations.

Undergraduate degree is required.

  Minimum of 15 years hot end operating/maintenance management experience in fully integrated steel production facility required.

  Experience in Management of union represented employees required.

  Must be open to relocation.
